Hexagonal Glass

The hexagonal shape and extra-thick cut of a Hoegaarden® glass helps to keep your beer cool. The cut of the glass acts as an insulator against the warmth of the drinker’s hands by creating less contact surface area. Less surface area equals less heat exchange – so your beer keeps cooler for longer.

Some people say the shape dates back to an inspired use of jam jars one day when village of Hoegaarden® ran out of glasses. The story goes that the villager’s decided the beer tasted so good from the jars (perhaps the fruity remnants went well with the flavours of the beer), that they just kept on using them and the shape has remained so to this day.

Other theories are so completely absurd that, until someone can find evidence of the giant spanner used to pry glasses out of the hands of guests that outstayed their welcome, they are probably not worth mentioning.

The truth is, nobody can actually agree on why the glass has such a distinctive shape – but a unique beer deserves a unique glass, and that’s one thing we can all agree on.
